Nope your right Mike...I didn't have the cash then, had to make sure everything was good on the home front before I deployed....(priorities come first)! Not saying you didn't offer me a good deal...was just trying to get a better block other than my stock block with the billet splayed main caps. I still want you to do my motor, I just want to be able to get all the best stuff I can when I can get it.

It's hard to believe a alum siamese bore block isn't stronger than a stock cast iron block. I was told the selves move in a stock block under high boost that's why you can't push the stock block.

stock blocks don't have sleeves. alum blocks do. a steel sleeve is stronger than a cast iron bore.

Good question Has any ony run a good steel sleeve in a v6 block I know the price would probable be 150ish a hole but may be worth it to have a little extra insurance:tup:

I've done it.

The biggest issue I ran into after sleeving a stocker was the front main cap began to move a lot and would spin the main with big boost and high rpm's.

What do you mean by high boost and rpm.. and how much more did it cost to have that done to a block? (yeah know, gotta get info in these threads )

I've done it.

The biggest issue I ran into after sleeving a stocker was the front main cap began to move a lot and would spin the main with big boost and high rpm's.

I have always wondered what the aluminium blocks would hold I know they are way higher and I didnt think they would be worth it.

I know there is no real reliable when you start making big boos but you think the aluminium bowtie block would hold 650-750 hp some what reliable (as in for the first year or so you wouldnt have to worry about it exploding when you get it out)

6500rpms and 28+psi is about all a stock block will do before you start having to swap bearings after hitting the track.

Bowtie should be bowtie. Billet crank, bowtie block, billet rods, aluminum heads.

Stock block should have a stock crank (nitrided, splayed caps etc)

I would not suggest a $3000 billet crank in a $250 block, or putting a $575 crank in a $3000 bowtie block.

We have had numerous trucks dyno 575ish RWHp so around 700hp with stock components (block/crank). It will last if you dont race it 100% every weekend. 90% of the time on 15-17psi making 500-550 at the crank. Is it bulletproof no? Will it last forever no? Campbell will tell you the same thing.

Everything is relevant.

Scott buddy wake up. You missed out on a complete ready to run fully balanced rotating assembly because you couldn't afford a 50% deposit, now you are spending thousands more to wait longer and listen to people blow smoke up your skirt...

I guess this would apply to putting aluminum brodix heads on a stock block also?

Would you be concerned with dropping a sleeve? Heard about that years ago on some of the bigger cube alum ls1 motors.

No, top end is totally different. Atleast with aluminum heads you can weld them and fix them if you blow some stuff up. Lol

It sounds like all the pros say it's ok to use the alum block, should one use block filler to make it stonger? or cryo treat the block if possiable
