Alarm: Power Door Locks Wiring

Hi guys,

I am trying to wire in relays to my Syclone's power door locks so that I can use keyless entry. I spliced into a constant 12v source off of the fuse panel with a 12 gauge wire. There are two relays; one to unlock the doors, and one to lock them. The relays send +12 volts into the wire that I splice them into

One relay is spliced into the grey wire and the other one into the brown wire coming off the the driver's door.

Here is the problem, when the alarm trips the relays, the driver's side door moves enough to lock, but just not enough to unlock. The passenger side lock hardly moves at all. It just nudges slightly.

When I hit the switch to lock/unlock the doors, the locks move forcefully and lock/unlock properly.

What am I doing wrong?

your not giving it a strong enough pulse what alarm are you using ? how do you have it wired?

Re: Alarm: Power Door Locks Wiring

its a reverse polarity door lock system you cant use those wires that you mentioned those are the door lock motor wires while one of those wires sees 12v the other turns to ground so you need to make your own circuit you need 2 relays use this link it will help you need to locate the lock switch wires they are light blue for lock and black with a white stripe for unlock they are both located in the drivers kick panel

Ah. Thanks for the replies.

I see what I need to do now. I will change relays. I currently have 4 post relays. I will switch to the 5 post and use the diagrams that both of you posted.

Thank you both very much.

Re: Alarm: Power Door Locks Wiring

I just finished wiring everything up. It is all working well now. I won't ever have to use my key to get into my truck again unless the battery goes dead on my remote.

I did run into a snag. There was no black wire with a white stripe on my truck. The wires coming off of the switch were 1 org/blk, 1 lt blu, and 3 black. I was splicing into the wire bundle next to the fuse box. At that point there is two black wires with neither of them having a white stripe. So I had to strip a small bit of insulation off of each black wire, hook up my multi-meter to it and hit the switch and check for voltage. The smaller of the two black wires showed 12v with the switch engaged so I cut it and spliced into it.

Also, I just wanted to point out that it is very important to hook up pin 87a to the wire going away from the door switch and pin 30 to the wire going to the door switch. If you forget which is which, then check for continuity to ground and the wire that shows continuity is the one going to the switch. If the wires get reversed then the circuit does not work. I made that mistake when I wired the first relay the first time.
