80e codes......stuck in failsafe(2nd)

So I am finally at the point where I am working out bugs in the 80e set up. I am using the stock ECM to control it and it is stuck in 2nd gear(failsafe). I ran Datamaster on it and the codes I am getting don't seem like they would cause it to default.

Codes are:

15-Under Temp
32-EGR Fail
42-EST Monitor Error
43-ESC Knock System Failure
54-Fuel Pump Relay Failure

Can any of these codes cause my issue? I wouldn't really think so but hey, I've been wrong before.

 I guess hooking up the VSS would be a start:lol: Shifts in to all gears, haven't tried to see if it locks up yet because I only got it up to 40 but I'll get to it this weekend for sure.

Sounds like you're making progress.

Oh yeah definitely getting it going. Drove it again today and it feels pretty good. Doesn't have that SYTY feeling but I was forewarned about that anyway. I was also shocked that it didn't trip a VSS code. I may have to look in the switches and see if it is turned off in the BIN.

It runs. That's why it doesn't have the syty feel.

"Does not have have the syty feeling?" what do you mean by this?

Basically, it doesn't have the firm crisp neck snapping 1-2 shift and from what I have read, never will. I did the HD2 kit and still, the shifts are pretty lame. This thing came out of a bone yard though and has 199k on it.

I see mine is rebuilt and I am using a ez-tcu so I can adjust shift points and firmness

Thats the advantage of the 80e, the lack of syty shift feel. I have come to hate my stock ty and how it shifts very annoying. A shift that slams your head back is not always the best thing for the trans and other things, including passengers.
