4l80e Conversion Info

As a tranny builder that was here recently ended his business and being I am not making any of these anymore and I truly enjoy these trucks and owners that visit the board I am sharing some of my hard earned work.

Below are the first 2 drawings I did for myself. I would consider them sketches as the final numbers I came up with were done on the machines and based on mockup. It should give a few people a head start though if they want to do the 4l80e conversion.

I can supply crossmembers and brace extension brackets since I have ~20 of those on the shelf. Otherwise hopefully this info helps everybody out and allows all of us to continue to own a syty on a budget.

This is the 27 spline output shaft drawing. I did this for quoting purposes many years ago looking to create one from scratch. Due to material cost of the chunk just to get started ~$300 it was put aside. It does give you most of the info if you wanted to have a stock output shaft resplined. I would talk to local machine shop, I also know Moser Axles can do them.

Next is the adaptor itself. These 2 pieces is the main conversion with crossmember. I would create a crossmember drawing also but it really wouldn't help anybody. Something if you built yourself you would do on the vehicle. I will tell you the mounting tabs for the trans mount get moved 3.75" back.

Back to this adaptor, this drawing was very early on, I lost the last version in a computer fail. The hole locations may not be 100%. I would say they are not. But the bores, diameters etc are correct.

I started with 3/4" material cnc lazer cut to the hex shape and surfaced each side minimal to get a true surface. Then did the boring, holes, etc. Again most would want to take this to machine shop to get quoted.

Hope this helps a few people. Happy boosting.
