2265 having issues..need some info...

I will try to be as specific as possible yet not type an entire article on what is happening.

So i decide to drive #2265 to work one afternoon....turn the truck on, and everything is well. As I am getting all my things from my other car I noticed that the truck sounded as if it wanted to turn itself off. I immediately go back to my truck and notice that the needle on my tachometer is bouncing from 0 to 3k RPM's erratically, however, the truck itself is idling as it should....seconds later, the truck shuts itself down. I decide to turn the truck on one more time and this time it idles at 1k RPM's and stays there for about a minute. I turn the truck off but leave the ignition halfway on to where I can hear the fuel pump and IC pump working. I try to hear for any noises other than what is expected (note that the truck is off) and then suddenly I hear a slight buzzing sound....does it for a few seconds then goes away. I now turn the truck on to hear for any additional "out of the ordinary" noises and don't really find any....I decide not to use the truck until I get back from work.................I get back from work and decide to further inspect what the heck is going on. I turn her on on does what she supposed to...turn on a dime. The truck idled fine ,no noise, no sputtering, no problems ...or so it seemed. I started messing with the non-essentials like turning on and off my AC, lights, windows, and everything seemed fine until. Before i turn the truck off I raise the windows on my truck all the way (both buttons at the same time) until they're all the way up, they stop, and then my truck begins to bog and my lights begin to fade- I let go and everything gets back to normal. I try to lower my driver side window, but it does not work- I lower the pass window and that one works. I try the driver window yet again, and it works fine, so I decide to raise them both up at the same time and the truck does not bog or do anything out of the ordinaly. i once more try to lower my driver side window and it does not work...not until I try to lower the passs window does my driver window work....I decide to drive my truck and found nothing to be wrong....lights are fine, idle is good, and everything works. I drove the truck 2 days ago and put about 80 miles, when I got home my truck stayed idling at about 1k RPM's and wouldnt go down... I havent driven it since.
Has anyone ever had any similar problems as to the ones I'm having? Any info/comments would be greatly appreciated. I would like to be pointed in the right direction so that this problem can be fixed.

Thanks in advance!

sounds like the truck needs a new alternator . i've had the same promblem once before. the voltage gauge read 14 v but was only really putting out 9v

it's the alternator. those stupid diodes do weird things some times. my alternator tests good but as soon as i drive off and turn the h lights on it drops all of my volts to like 10. butif i nail it sometimes it will spike or just come back up. sometimes i'll lose my dash lights for a sec or ten minutes or sometimes it's just fine, also the tranny willl start to shift funny. to soon or up and down. i talked to a local reputable shop that my dad is friends with and he says it has nothing to do with it. NOT TRUE . i just don't want to buy an alternator. i'm lazy. i'm hoping that it'll clear it up. so 9 times out of ten it IS your alt. when your truck acts stupid. (or a grounding issue)

By the way it will never act up when anyone is looking at it or i try to show them. they all think i'm either retarded or crazy

Sounds almost like you've got a bad ground in the drivers window... up relay stays energized, keeping the window from going down and absorbing a lot of juice ... then the passenger window deenrgizes the relay and it starts over again ... :2cents:

I would like to thank everyone for their input, hopefully tomorrow I have time and take the truck to the local Autozone to get it checked. I forgot to mention that I have a Powermaster Alternator on the truck, however, if this is causing the problem-I will go ahead and put the stocker back on....thamks again everyone for your help, it is greatly appreciated. :woot:
