Hi guys!
Have a Mitsu turbo laying around and wondering if its a 20G because the inlet looks a bit bigger than the stock one.
How can i see from outside what kind of mitsu it is?
Thanks a lot!

Alex

Re: 20G difference

Should be cast / stamped on the compressor cover. Post a pic and or measure the inlet / outlet. The ex. housing should be marked 14 cm (if all original). I'm sure several of the "20G" guru's will chime in also.

Re: 20G difference

20G does have a bigger inlet ID.
The compressor housing also has a large machined flat surface on the inlet side.
Bolt pattern for the wastegate actuator is different.
What P.N is stamped on the compressor housing?
Also what size is the turbine wheel hole, where the downpipe attaches? ;)

Inlet ID I will agree with, OD and the tube used (which is what most people measure) is the same.

this is def a 20g. the 20 g will have a straight rod for the WG actuator. the stock one has a bend in it.

the stock turbo has a 8 cast into the inlet of the turbine housing.
20g has a 14 cast inot the inlet of the turbine housing.

stock compressor wheel has single blades.
20g has a double row of blades.

If you are going/trying to decide if you have a 20G or stock turbo, most people do not measure the OD of the inlet, you need to measure the ID to see if you have a 20G compressor wheel or larger.
(so, most people would not measure the OD,,,you need to measure the ID,,, correct?

Re: 20G difference

over stock you might gain 20hp. but to get it you need a 2800 or better stall converter with a stock truck.

My Sy made 386 HP @ the rear wheels (21 PSI) with a 20G turbo, but it has a 12CM turbine housing.
Tested on a Dyno pack dyno.
Stock 2100 RPM stall converter.

Re: 20G difference

386hp on the wheels!Thats nearly 450 on the engine right? That would be enough for the beginning.
