Mark Schafer (MAXTOR) was nice enough to share these videos with me of his truck running 0-100+mph...

Smaug was nice enough to provide the space to HOST the videos so I thought I would post the link for you guys to pimp out...

I havent had a chance to ride in the beast yet, everytime I head over for a ride the weather acts up.. Hopefully that will change soon enough...... Look for more videos coming soon hopefully..

Maybe mark will chime in here.. Theres just about NOTHING left untouched on this truck its been pretty heavily modified. Best part is, has less than 10,000mi on it too !

beautiful

what mods besides stroker motor?

Off the top of my head:

Motor built by Jim Stokes, 298ci stroker
JE racing pistons
Oliver rods
Moldex stroker crank
Comp Cams camshaft with "Stokes" grind
Bowtie block
McCoy Motorsports stage 3 heads
ATR headers/downpipe
Custom SS 3" exhaust
PT72GTQ turbo
KB air to air (new a-to-a in the works)
84 lb injectors
ATR double pumper
FAST engine management with WBO2
Rossler built 700r4
Mark Williams 12 bolt rear end w/pro-street axles
Dynotech aluminum rear driveshaft
Gilbert front drive shaft
Fiberglass leaf springs, Cal-Trac traction bars, Rancho shocks
Baer brakes

The truck has 8300 original miles. I have vowed to keep it a street driven vehicle that looks great at car shows, not a molested track queen. Therefore, I don't plan on doing much more with it. 20psi is about all that is sane to use on the street, and anything over 0psi launches is out of the question. 0-100mph+ doesn't really seem very dramatic on the videos, but driving it can be a handful as you can see on the first video if you watch my hands coming out of the hole - I got pretty deep into the left lane.

Mark, can I go for a ride next month?

If I don't break something before then, sure! Got some things I need to get worked out with the suspension and tuning, but hopefully they will be minor tweaks.

Mark has also sent me the following clip :

And added the following information about the run....

It is my favorite one when I went down the track in Bristol with Ray. Two of us plus gear ran a 10.8 with a pretty lame launch because it pushed through the brakes. We also discovered the front left shock was bad about 2/3 of the way down the track when the truck started to bounce around pretty bad.

I knew that Camaro would finally get boring for you

Maybe if you're nice to your son he will give you a ride! Remember the discussion we had when I bought it from you? It's Ray's turn to take over. Tell him I'll take cash or check since I know him ;)

Mark, you lucky bastage. That is the best truck I have seen. It looks like it could be stock (to the un-knowing). The Pitt. area big block guys are still trying to figure out what happened at the street drags. I tried to give Les 2 TY's for it, but no go. I will never forget the ride! Make SYTY Proud!

This truck has got to be the slowest truck off the line ever. Point Blank.

Re: 0 to 100mph in a Stokes Stroker Syclone.

if you keep you foot out of it it's as docile as a pussycat. only problem is no matter how hard you try, you just CAN'T keep you foot out of it. somebody always wants to try you and it is so much fun dusting em off like little flies it's impossible to resist.

now mark... he never sticks his size 12 into it. not our little markie... he just drives it like a little ol lady.... MY ASS...

Re: 0 to 100mph in a Stokes Stroker Syclone.

Hey now, I NEVER drive that truck fast! Ok........... maybe I do occasionally. The most important thing to remember is to always observe posted speed limits (as you fly by them at 150mph!!!!!!!)

As far as a 9 sec. slip....... probably won't happen for a while. It clearly has the right build to run that ET, the main thing it lacks is tuning. The tune is set up to run mid to low 10's right now, with VERY conservative AFR and timing.

The most fragile thing on it is the 700r4 tranny which would probably give up while trying to tune it to run 9's. It's built very well by Rossler, but the 700 has it's limits and I'm clearly past what most say its limits are. I'm keeping an eye on the 4l80e progress and may one day convert to that tranny. Another limiter right now is the air-to-air IC that is on it, which wasn't designed for more than 500-600hp max. I have a new core/piping waiting on me to get time to put it together.

Bottom line for now is that I have a lot of fun cruising on the street, more than I do at the track. There isn't a street car any where around here that can touch it, from a dig or a roll. Hell, I could run with most of the pro-stocks at our local track and beat their eyes out. Plus, it has to be one of the lowest mileage (8k)/cleanest Syclones left out there. Maybe some day I'll get the bug and go after the 9 sec slip just to day it can do it, but for now the wife is happy with it (because it isn't broken) which allows me to be happy with it ;)
