Input needed: Planning a chassis swap for an AWD classic truck

Re: Input needed: Planning a chassis swap for an AWD classic truck That's been my thought as well, but I thought I might get lucky and run across somebody who's had experience with both vehicles that would have some first-hand info. I agree, I'm leaning the same direction. I remember back...

Input needed: Planning a chassis swap for an AWD classic truck

Re: Input needed: Planning a chassis swap for an AWD classic truck Any other thoughts? I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts on the SyTy/S-series suspension versus the Trailblazer/Envoy with regard to modifying for autocross, etc.

Input needed: Planning a chassis swap for an AWD classic truck

It's been ~9 years since I sold my Typhoon, so it's about time I build another AWD project. The body will be a '47-'53 Chevy/GMC truck with original paint and plenty of 'patina'. Interior will be nearly stock. Under the classic body will be a turbocharged Gen III-powered AWD chassis. For...

Re: AWD turbo LSx project -- suggestions? That's exactly the type of deal I'd start with for the Blazer/Jimmy/Bravada option.

AWD turbo LSx project -- suggestions?

Re: AWD turbo LSx project -- suggestions? Agreed, the turbo system build will be interesting. I'll do the welding and fabrication myself. If there's a portion of it that I think is over my head, then I have a friend that's an excellent fabricator that can help me out. Comparing curb...

AWD turbo LSx project -- suggestions?

Re: AWD turbo LSx project -- suggestions? You've got a point there. My naturally aspirated Chevelle gets 24+ on the highway with a 5.7L LS1 and T56, so I'd consider that to be pretty good. I'm sure the turbo will take its toll on fuel mileage, but it'll be interesting to see.

AWD turbo LSx project -- suggestions?

It's been a little over 7 years since I sold my Typhoon, and I'm itching for a bit of AWD turbo fun. I'm looking to build a new daily driver, but I haven't decided yet what it should be. Help me out with your thoughts / recommendations. A few requirements for the vehicle: - Must be able to...

It looks like subscribers must get the new GMHTP issues a little while before the newstands, I've been looking all over for it and none of the newstands have the new issue yet. Are there any subscribers on here that could scan it for us?

Blk '93 Ty @ Street Machine Fall Nats in Springfield, MO

Hey, I was over at the Street Machine Fall Nationals in Springfield, MO over the weekend, and I just happened to spot a black '93 Ty with Missisippi plates sitting in the parking lot. If I remember right, I think it was lowered and had C5 Vette wheels on it. Anybody know whose it is?

    Kill from NLOC

Yip, that's my kill! It was a fun chance to play, and the guy with the Lightning was pretty cool. Maybe we'll have another chance to play one of these days. Who knows, he might end up being a SyTyer one day -- he told me he had looked at one for sale up in Nebraska a while back. Galen

    First kill -- Lightning!

Finally! An opportunity to play! Leaving work today, I'm waiting to pull onto the highway. I check for traffic, and I decide to wait -- until I see that the truck coming up in the near lane is a fairly new supercharged Lightning with a "Shaker" scoop. So, I go ahead and pull out into the...

    shift points....

At WOT, mine are in the range of 4600 RPM. It sounds like it's pretty well in line with what others are doing. Is there a way to raise the shift points closer to the red line? Thanks, Galen
