Update:

So today i finally got away from school work and drove home to work on the truck! Today i had planned to paint/ detail ect all of the motor and parts. Long story short...my father decided to help me out a little...alot actually...

When i walked into the shop i discovered my gross looking motor had had some "work" done to it since i was home last, and I was also informed that i would now be running a tremec t-56 as a transmission!!

Anyways i had tried to get it out of my dad all day what he had done to my motor, but he wouldnt tell me! so Tomorrow i will find out and post up the details. Anyways today we basically just painted and assembeled the motor!!

By the time i sanded, primered, sanded some more and painted pieces the day was already gone! ill be home all weekend next weekend so looking forward to finishing up alot of stuff!

what i could get my father to tell me about the build:

motors been balanced
bored 20 over
new crank and bearings
vortec heads w/ screw in studs and stainless valves
forged pistons (Dont remember the name)
roller rockers
lower intake ported and polished

my father said he forgot some stuff but thats the basics

I cant remember the name right now, but this wekeend when i go home to work on the truck i'll check for yeah.

The paint is made by Dupli Color, It is there high heat engine enamel as they refer to it.
Paint is good for a temp of 500 degrees F, hope that helps.

Update:

This weekend i had a few hours on saturday/ sunday to work on the phonie, Anyways here what i accomplished!

The AC was removed by the previous owner of my parts truck, So we had to make a few brackets here and there like this kinda "L" shaped one.

Anyways thats it for this week, But i have next week off because of study week! So were hoping that if my flywheel and cluth get sorted out and arrive that we can have the motor & transmission in!

Qucik Update:
Its been a few weeks since ive made any real progress but this weekend we are hoping to have the motor and tranny in the truck with hopefully most if not all of the wiring done.

The last few weeks were spend trying to get the transmission to bolt up to the motor and now my father and i have accomplished that!

how old are your oil pressure sender and knock sensor? might be wise to change them out while you have the motor on the stand. once it's installed, it's quite a bitch to get to them.

Update

Hey guys, After working all weekend the motor and transmission are finally in! Things went very smoothly, there were alot less headaches that we had predicted.

This picture is right after i sprayed the frame rails and iner-fenders, When the truck was rebuild the first time 6 years ago, the frame was painted when the we did the frame off, but since then it had gotten a little dirty.

I started to wipe the underside of the truck after about 30 minutes this is what it looked like

I decided to borrow some sawblades off of my fathers friends vette, ive always wanted a set and wanted to see how they would look! with the correct adapter i think they would suit the truck. let me know what you think.

The motor and transmission were set in to check clearence first, Mostly to find out where the shifter would be coming through the floor, We thought that the lower portion of the firewall was going to have to be raised to clear the transmission, but on the test fit the transmission cleared the hump as did the oil pan on the motor which was another worry. So from there we bolted in the motor and started to cut the floor for the shifter. Here is are some pictures. Here is where the shifter will be sitting.

After the floor was cut the shifter was brought through and the console was test fitted.

Next we started the transmission cross member, We origionally were going to build a custom piece from scratch but after looking at both the frame and my stock blazer 5 speed crosmember we realised it could be used. The ends were bend upward on a 90 degree angle and two holes were drilled on either side. Then it was sanded, primed and painted.The z28 camaro driveshaft that i bought is geting shortened this week and then installed.

Next weekend we are hoping to finish up the wiring for the most part and the dash, Then i can proceed with putting the interior back in.

yes dual magnaflow mufflers with magnaflow cats from the manifolds back. Now were going to run the down pipe then fab up a y-pipe to make it go back to dual exhaust. It will definatly sound different.

Update

This weekend we spend alot of time doing the wiring. we made up some bracket and cut the rad support to fit the new radiator and electric fan. Heres some pics.

Be Cool rad and Flex-a-Lite fax mounted

everythign is pretty well wired up, but we didnt know what this plug was for or where it goes. Hopefully some of you guys can help us out here: its located where the harness runs behind the motor, very tight to the firewall.

Just go from the downpipe to the cat then straight out the back, because with the turbo you are going to be quiet anyway.

I agree with Mike, sure looks like knock sensor plug to me. The knock sensor should be screw into the block on the driver side,back of the block near the Dist.
