Abby launching (with ignition issues)

So I had Abby out this afternoon to try and find the miss she's having. The temps around here are great (~50*) and I burned a few hours at work.

A little background....ran the truck this exact way, only couldn't build boost over 12-13#. Got home, did some digging, and ended up running a MBCV (Turbosmart - way nice). That got me running quite a bit better. Did lots more driveability tuning, then started to turn it up a bit. Once I hit around 16#, it started breaking up under WOT. Did a bunch of looking around, and after these runs, I think I may have the issue narrowed down a bunch. Either way, in this video you can see the following:

1) Launching at anything over 6-7# causes tire spin.

2) This turbo is insane! It is a T-3 .70 A/R 62mm turbo. I haven't even started taxing this unit yet...can't wait until I can keep my foot in it all the way....The spool is absolutely great on the street (TCI billet 3,000-stall converter).

3) Even at these low TPS %, the truck is a monster! I will have to work on getting this power to the ground once the winter is over out here.

I believe that my problem is in the Accel box. I will be looking into it more over the weekend. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks for looking!

Sounds to me like it's going lean. You watching the FP gauge?

Oh yeah,cool truck Alex.

Your stock boost gauge, temp gauge, and oil pressure gauge don't work. Welcome to the family. :rotf:

What's your peak boost? (edit:nevermind see 16#)

BS3 is a stand-alone unit...the stock harness isnt in the truck anymore, so no stock gauges.

Re: Abby launching (with ignition issues)

its weird because if you look at the graphs, the RPM line (when its running rough) is fuzzy instead of smooth. I think its acting like the spark is blowing out, but I have to go over the Accel box wiring (power and ground) once again to be sure there isn't anything messed up there.

Next is some traction!

UPDATE:

Went out last night and changed the lugs - even though they have less than 500 miles on them. I will have to post pics tomorrow (left the plugs at home and the camera at work), but suffice it to say - they did not look bad at all. They actually looked perfect! I checked the gaps on all of them and they were within 0.002" of each other.

I was using an Autolite AR12 (-2 heat range from stock - racing plug - non-projected tip) and swapped out to a set of shitty, half-fouled-out NGK UR6IX's at 0.024". Took me a few cranks to get her lit, but the truck fired up. I let her warm up for 10 minutes, and went for a drive.

Once I got about 5-10 miles in, I leaned into it a bit more, watching the laptop as I went. No problems as I rolled into it. I stopped, started a log trace, and built boost to 10#. When I let go, OMFG! That was the problem! The truck torqued hard to the left while trying to catch traction, I lifted a bit, and it hooked and went. Jesus! I ran it up to about 80 and slowed down. I pulled over and checked the logs. Now it seems a little lean through the upper RPM area, but not too bad. I throw more fuel at it up there, pull 1* out, and let her eat again. I can notice that now if I try to get to 7# or more of boost off the line (foot brake w/hydroboost), it pushes through them.

I will try to get some more tweaking done tomorrow and Friday, with a new vid (longer) maybe on Saturday. I will also see if I can wick it up to 24# or so....hehehe!
