I understand that this (hose and check valve) is a necessity, but is there any reason one couldn't shorten it up a bit? I am assuming it is routed to ensure it never sees contact with water, am I missing something? IE why is it so damn long? TIA

Got DM hooked up and running a few months ago (ugly homemade cable, but it works), and recently got around to actually loging a couple of runs. I've been doing a lot of reading, but would still like to get an educated opinion or two, any takers? TIA
