Re: A/C Problems
Bill gave you some good advice one other thing 134a will not cool as good as r12. To get it to do the best it is capable of install an electric fan for in town driving. Also use 80 percent of the standard R12 charge. I have had better luck with a product called fr12 with no...
Re: Different A/C problems
Check to see if you have voltage at the motor when it won't work. You can get a cheap test light from any parts store. Then you can work backwards to find the problem. The resistor isn't a factor if it doesn't work on high as that is controled by the relay. Then go...
Re: motor broke replace radiator?
All major engine rebuilders will not warranty an engine if cooler isn't replaced. This should tell you which way to go.
Re: oil cooler
To do away with the stock cooler and lines all you need is an oil filter adapter from any 4.3 or V8 chev or gmc. Just the two 1/4 inch bolts to be removed and install the adapter. Be sure and put bypass is same place.
Re: BAH! Bloody Heater Core!
Are your cores leaking in the core or at the tubes going into the upper header. If in the core (where they usually leak) the length of the hoses won't matter. Antifreeze setting in the core not moving is the normal problem, it corrodes the cores from the inside...
Re: Best Way To Replace A Ecm
Gauge problems on the early s10's is a commom problem usually caused by a loose ground at the lower left dash mounting bolt. Try that first don't remember but do not think this is the aldl ground though.
If using the complete sy drivetrain use the sy computer and wiring. I don't know of any problems other than antilock brakes that feed through the pcm on the obd 2 system. You will have to mate the new wiring to the speedo and all power and grounds on the ecm. I have complete wiring diagrams...
I would not advise trying to go through a 700 as your first try. I am a master tech of 25+ years and this is not for beginners. Especially when you need to make several changes.
I change over a 91 to sy. power and used the sy trans by replacing output shaft with the longer 2 wd shaft. Also went through and rebuilt while I had it apart.
Is it a shudder or a mise? When the converter locks up at lower speeds it loads the engine. Check for a cracked plug or wire problem, could be this since heads have been off.
I really can't speak for your 9/11 converters as I have not used one. But being I have built many transmissions for high performance race cars most powerglides and 400's . One thing you can try with converter lock up shudder is to put a can of Ford friction modifier for positract rear ends in...
Having been a mechanic for over 35 years I have seen this happen on many gm rearends. One trick we have used in my shop is to take a stick welder tape the rod everywhere except the very tip. Put the rod in the hole and hold against the broken bolt. Have a second person cycle the welder on...
