Stock Solenoid Max Boost?

What is the range of the stock GM boost solenoid.

I have a Tial 38mm external, with 9psi spring and a 11psi spring. Right now i'm running the 11 spring, with a manual valve, i have rock solid 22psi, with more adjustment left in the valve. (i've had it to 27psi)

I'd like to run the stock solenoid to let the ECM keep a better tap on boost, so it'll pull for KR and so on.

What is the range for the stock solenoid? Would i have to buy another WG spring to run 25psi?

I have no idea what the limit is, but imagine your going to run out room on the MAP sensor first.

30psi due to 3bar being maxed at that point.

Minimum boost is set by your spring.

There are several ways to plumb it but done right it will work just fine.

You'll be able to hit 25 psi, no problem. It's not really a function of the solenoid.
The solenoid is just an electronically controlled bleeder. It does have some limiations (it can't bleed off *everything*), but it won't hold you back.

But dont these come stock with a 2 bar? And if you use the 3 bar, you need to get the ecu chipped right?

they also come stock with 15psi of boost for this same reason.

The MAP sensor has nothing to do with how much boost it can make.... I've had 2bar based chips in the 27 psi neighborhood. This is a function of the turbo, and the related control systems.

The MAP sensor, however has *everything* to do with how much fuel gets delivered at a given boost.
2 Bar gives up at between 14 and 17 psi, depending on altitude. 3 Bar will extend that to 28 or so, again dependent on altitude.

The stock ECM software expects a 2 Bar sensor, and will only work properly with that sensor. Most of the aftermarket "chips" now available use different software and work only with 3 bar sensors.

You can't switch between the two, without switching chips. It'll run horribly if you do.

dont think i ever posted about my MAP sensor. I have a 3bar, i assumed that would be known running 18+psi. i know the 2bar can only read to 15psi, and you can push a 2bar tune to 18-20psi. But no, i dont have a 2bar, its a 3bar. I'm wreckless, but not that wreckless, lol.

Only reason why I brought it up.. I dont want anyone trying to boost to the moon and destroy another one of these cars because they dont know is all. I have a 3bar sitting here waiting to put in someday myself..

The solenoid won't be the limiting factor... your WG will.

The solenoid is basically an electronically controlled bleeder valve.

I've seen well over 27 psi on a stock solenoid.

so with my wastegate set for say 15psi, then the solenoid can adjust from 0psi to 30psi??

my ultimate goal is to use the stock solenoid as a 2stage controlled. setting a low boost level for low RPMs for launching, then the max boost for high RPMs. I also have a ANS on-dash boost controller, which plugs in-line with the stock solenoid. But if i can control the regulated boost through TP, then it'll be that much easier.
