Weird Code59 Issue

edit: RESOLVED: not a Code59 Issue!! was a broken vacuum line on afrp!

Ok, my Typhoon had a pretty good tune on it from last June, Ty sat for a while waiting on new transmission.

Transmission is now in and after I drove it home with the new trans the tune was still acting great, parked the Typhoon for a few days then decided to drive it to work after that.. noticed it idled very rich, also when cruising it idles very rich. from 10.3-10.0

This morning I hooked up my laptop/ostrich and verified it was running the June bin I was always running, but still the car runs like crap.

I did a few AutoTunes sessions and applied them, they changed a few values but nothing drastic.. The tune I had before was working great for cruise/idle.. what could have happened to make this tune just go so haywire when nothing has changed?

I know the ostrich is working for sure as I put it in emulation mode and changed the Fuel Cell values from ~58 to 30 and it idled around 14.5 AFR then. After that I did an Autotune letting the Ty idle, the autotune set the values back up to ~59 and it started running very rich again..

Also another issue, my PLX Wideband reads about 1 AFR higher than what Tuner Pro is showing (the wideband is connected to the correct F Pin on the ECM).. could this cause a problem?

Not sure how to explain this any better so if you have any suggestions please let me know,

Do you have the correct WB selected in the bin?

Yes, the PLX WBO2 is the only one I have selected

I have had this too.
Reseat the carrier in PCM.
Re-load program (with key on)
Reset IAC
Pull ECM B fuse and re-install.

I have been playing with Code59 for a few months now.

Re: Weird Code59 Issue

One question for you? What are the differences in temperatures between now and the time you actually tuned it? I had this problem every time the season changed and you will be needing to play in f31m if you only tuned in that particular temp range so to speak.

temps are nearly the same here in MI between late june and late august.. average day temp is 80-90F

I believe its in the "flags and switches" section. Look for "use wb for afr" or something like that, I also think there is also one other field to check too, but its been a while since I messed with it. If these are set, your ecm should adjust for temperature and seasons just as stock did. I would think it would ever be off as far as you said though. Did you develope a leaky injector or FPR?

It should be in open loop, something mechanical has changed I suspect.

Re: Weird Code59 Issue

Checked today, it is running in Open Loop.

I did an autotune and collected about 6000 samples, it changed some values but still keep running into it running very rich when cruising.

I'll take a look at the AFPR tomorrow morning.

Check your vac line to your AFPR. When your motor is running under vac (idle and crusing) the vac should be pulling fuel pressure. Check your fuel pressure with the line unhooked (and plugged) and with it hooked. It should be different.

Re: Weird Code59 Issue

Thanks for the tips guys! It turned out just to be my vacuum line on the AFPR was split in half, for now I cut the old line (Ian's silicone kit) a couple inches back and set it back on, fixed the problem.. Will be putting on a newer line just to be safe.

No charge for the advice. I will want a discount rate on either a photo shoot or help with a new web site setup!!;)
PS: Guess who just happens to have a new complete silicone hose kit?

Re: Weird Code59 Issue

Now that the problem is fixed you may want to edit your title to reflect the real problem and not a code 59 issue. Glad to see your back up and running.
