why are you parting it out? I don't understand why anyone would part out a ty in working condition!?

Cause you can get more money in parts than you could out of selling it whole.

Sad to see, but it's the reality of the market we're in. Rising gas prices will only make things worse...

I dont want that much for it and it doesnt need that much to be nice. But im not going to sit on this thing forever to sell it. I have free time to disassemble and ship stuff so it seems as though its going to come apart... Its sad to see that its got this way but i need the money.

well what do you have? I see in your sig it's a 92 ty, how many miles, color and is anything done to it? how much for the truck(asking price). It will take you awhile to get money for the parts, cladding will sell first and then you go from there. You better figure out what you think you can get for your ty and then you will have to pretty much haul the body, frame to the schredder as shipping would kill selling those, unless somebody close to yu needs those items.Toss up some pics of your ty.

Re: Pondering parting out my TY need help with pricing.

So ive got my typhoon almost back to stock now and i need to sell it. It needs a tune BAD and still has a little issues but for someone this would make a good starter project. Hate to see it go but i just cant keep it any longer. Probably have it up on here next week and on ebay next weekend. Anyone have any interest in a 92 Green grey?

92 ty green grey....142k miles.

body is decent, has minor rust bubbling right below the gas door. all cladding is in tact but the pass wheel well piece has a small crack and it has a crack in the drivers door area in side the door frame. no rust in the tail gate or liftgate area. 18% tint all around, keyless entry/remote start. Interrior is pretty nice, no rips or burns anywhere. dash has one small crack on the pass side above the glove box. have original floor mats along with GM set. dual gauge pillar with boost gauge and a empty hole.

engine is stock block bored .30 with hyperutetic pistons l35 rods stock crank. L35 heads mildly ported comp valve springs. comp custom cam. stock upper and lower intake.stock intercooler and t/b. Stock manifolds and downpipe 20g turbo. 700r4 with hardened sprag and good clutches, stock convertor. stock xfer case and front driveline. stock wheels decent tires.

new parts, radiator, alternator 105amp, elec cooling fan, both front axles, rear ujoints rear wheel bearings, ac compressor.

not stock parts 75lbs injectors, msd coil, 3bar map walbro intank 255 kenne bell FPR.

the bad, needs a evap coil replaced for the air to work, needs valve guides, its not bad but it will smoke if it idles for a long period. it needs tuned badly. asking 5250 OBO the way it sits or 5500 with the air fixxed.

i hate making these i always forget a bunch of stuff

This look like a good deal. SOmone should buy this

I don't think the price is too out of line, vehicle has some issues as most do, but $5k for a driver would work for some people.

I don't have a full detail of your truck, but my first guess is $7000 in parts for it. One thing going against you is that its 142K miles and its apears to have some rust, so the condition of the parts might have to be adjusted appropriately and I also wouldn't bother will some of the drivetrain peices (front end, rear end, etc.) Every peice of cladding with cracks or missing tabs is worth less money, that is where a good chunk of your money will come from.

Parting out the truck is the easy part, the hard part is finding enough boxes, taking to time ship all the different parts (For instance the cladding piece are pretty large when you go to box them up) and answer all the requests for shipping quotes (and tire kickers). I probably spent only 1/4 of my time actually removing parts. Honestly SyTy's are hard to sell parts for, some time their is a demand, sometimes their isn't. You have to be patient. I parted out a Syclone, after 3 months I sold $2000 worth of parts, after 6 months the total was upto $4500, one year $6000 and I think I ended up with around $6500 after 2 years. I have seen people try to do ebay to speed up the sale with ebay parts.

Why your truck isn't selling, syty's are hard to sell. My first though as buyer is that you blew the motor. It runs like crap but hardly has any mods. You couldn't get it to run right with the headers and turbo either. Honestly I doubt the valve guides are gone, its probably the motor or the turbo oil seal. It could need valve seal as well but those are just a puff of smoke at start up. If your positive the motor is good (and think my intution is BS) I would get some stock injectors/ECM (or put the stock injector drivers back in)/Chip in the truck and get it running close. You should be able to get your price with a good running truck. I would rather get $5000 for a Ty than Part it out for $7000. The time spent to get the extra $2000 for me wouldn't be worth it unless maybe you were unemployed. (bvasically I am saying its a hard way to earn another $2000)

I see all your points thats why i made this thread. The thing is paid for, i dont want that much for it and i would do some trading on it also. Im just so sick of hear from people that they want it, waste a week of my time and then never hear from them again.....The motor has smoked like this for years now. Previous owner had the same issues. With different turbos, the reason i took my log manifolds off is that i want to sell it and knew that the stock parts would help it. Guess i was wrong there too....the cylinders that get oil on the plugs you can physically wiggle the valve stem and i talked to the guy that put the motor and he said the heads were not in good shape when they assembled the engine. I dont mind to part it out, i have no liking for this thing anymore and it sickens me to see that people say its no right to part on out but noone steps up to buy. I have time to part out, i have a ups account to help with shipping. Im just looking to start getting returns out of this thing. I am not going to spend more money on it to try to get the same amount out of it. I tried that once already. I appreciate the advice and welcome more. Im just looking to get out of this project.

Re: Pondering parting out my TY need help with pricing.

I've parted a couple Sonoma GT's and I will tell you now what you will probably be stuck with when the dust settles.....seats, frame, glass, hood, fenders, and carpet.

What will sell rather quick;

All cladding in excellent shape (total $1500)
Wheels and caps IF NICE ($300-400)
Stereo IF ORIGINAL ($150-250)
Gauge cluster and Bezel ($200)
Upper/Lower intake ($400)
Owners Manual ($50-75)
Center Console ($150-250)
Grill IF NICE ($75)

The rest of the pieces are a gamble with the mileage on the truck. In addition, the market stinks right now and people aren't shelling out much money for anything. I know this isn't what you wanna hear BUT if it were me, I'd put it on ebay with a reserve of 4,000 and a BIN of $4500 and cross my fingers. Trust me.....parting it out will be more of a headache for you than it is worth especially when people promise payment is enroute, you take the part off, get it packaged and then get a PM the buyer changed his mind. I've been down this road many times on this forum. You wanted some straight advice...here it is :).
