Hi, i have never owned a sy or ty, but have had my share of experiences dealing with rare cars. I am currently looking at a 1991 syclone with 93K on it. The guy that has it bought it from the original owner 5 years ago and had intentions of building it but never got around to it so it sat in storage for the last 5 years. The guy stabilized it before it went into storage, but it does at least need a good tune up. I took it for a spin and everything seemed ok, shifted fine, boosted fine, just a little rough idle. So I put it up on the lift and I can tell that it needs new brakes, probably 2 wheel bearings they arent that bad, 2 new ball joints, and there is a little black smoke on start up so i am thinking maybe some vavle or head gasket issue. he is asking $10,500.0 or B/O. He is willing to negotiate. I think it is priced to high, but am not sure.

What do you guys think?

Black smoke ='s unburned fuel. If it is indeed black and not blue (oil, which would likely mean valve seals) then it might have a leaky injector. Not a big deal either way really, just another bargaining chip.

I personally feel that is steep. I picked up my first Sy for 10grand cash but it had a new motor, new tranny and has a lot of goodies. I did get a steal, and this does not happen often. If you can come up with cash, make him a 8 grand cash offer or so. It will need a few hundred bucks in tune up parts ect.

It also depends on what you want the truck for. Keeping it stock, want a drag Sy?

Stay away from the 91's, they are the worst!







j/k, all of the Sy's were 91's. Sounds like a decent deal (assuming everything is right with the truck), but talk him down

price is fair but in todays market better deals are out there. i want 13 for mine with 9xk and a new motor
