Well today I took the day off to get some work done on the truck...
I started by replacing the 4x10's in the rear with Polk MMC410. Really nice speakers I got off ebay. They come with a crossover that I just fixed to the plastic speaker panel and wired it up. They fit no problem and sound pretty darn good for 4x10's.
Then I moved to the dash speakers. First I rewired them since the stock wire specs were confusing and weren't sure which were + and negative. Then I mounted them up and couldn't get the darn passenger side to fit. So I whipped out the dremel and grounded off some of the dash under the speaker grill. No big deal since it would be hidden. Still doesn't fit. :rant: Finally I decided to ground off the excess on the speaker grill where they stock speakers mount. This gave me the extra 1/4" or so that I needed to get the new speaker to fit. Polk DB461P that I picked up from a local kid that bought the wrong speakers for his car.
Finally wired up the Pionner Premier head unit I got off ebay (same one in my car, I love this head unit) took some adjusting to cram the wires in the back, but finally got it in and buttoned up. Sounds so darn good. Lacks big bass, but what do you expect. Maybe in the future I will add a sub and amp. The blue pioneer matches my cobalt gauges nicely.
