How much does the cladding weigh?! ---

I was talking to a guy at work about my truck , and how it is the quickest production truck to date. His first response was " did you add that kit , it must weigh atleast 600 lbs " ... I said " more like 150 lbs with all the mounting tabs/equipment " ... then he said "no way ... it is a LOT more " .

I saw a 4 year old thread that said 50 lbs for the TY cladding without mounting stuff.

Does anyone have an "updated" view on this?! Thanks ---

HAHAHA 600lbs??? hmmm your cladding must be made out of steel. Even 150lbs seems heavy to me... i'd say somewhere around 75 or 80?

My truck is getting painted and I have every piece of cladding off. Does anyone have a scale big enough to weigh them? Or should I take them in to shoprite and weigh them on the produce scale?? :rotf:

Grab a scale and weight them individually.

I bet the weight penalty when consider you still would need front and rear bumpers is under 100#, I would guess maybe around 50-75# mark. I have most of the pieces laying around in storage. If no else does, I could weigh them in next weeks or so. The front bumper cover, support, & brackets is by far the heaviest peices, I guess that is in the 30-40# range.

Even if you accounted for the rear bumper being a part of the "kit", the total weight is definitely less than 100lbs. The cladding really doesn't weigh that much.

I'd be surprised if Mike Campbell hasn't already weighed this stuff.

I'm guessing its not over 60lbs.

Well, a stock rear step bumper on a regular S-series is pretty heavy compared to our roll pan rears, front to front would be close, and the side claddings and bracketing are pretty light. I think the difference would be under the 50 lb mark.

if you got a moving company near you, you can put them in a bed of a truck weigh the whole thing. then take them out and weigh the difference. i weighed a car at a scrap yard for 10bucks to see how much it weighed with me in it.

why dont you just get a regular scale... weigh yourself, then get on the scale holding a piece of cladding and see what the difference is? then you can do the same thing for every piece of cladding hahaha.

Any weight penalty that cladding causes is offset by the aerodynamics they provide.

Heh it's funny that you should mention that Matt

. Someone we both know plans to get his syclone repainted and I planned to weigh the pieces... I think that everything would be close to 100 pounds with brackets and supports included.

Re: How much does the cladding weigh?! ---

I just used a bathroom scale for my left rear peice of cladding thats off the truck ,lol. I would have guessed 8lbs but its 4lbs. I think the bulk makes it feel heavier!?

2 rear fender peices = 8lbs
2 forward rear fender peices 8lbs
4 top fender peices (front and rear) 12lbs
two side door peices 20 lbs
two front fender fronts and rears 12lbs
front peice 30lbs
rear peice 20lbs

These are estimates , without actual steel bumper peices ( beneath the cladding) and mounting tabs ... still equals about 110 lbs. ---

LOL, I agree that the aerodynamics it provides cancels out the extra weight :) ---
