stock dipstick and tube part number

If you have vortec heads get one of a newer motor. It can help to taper the end fo the dipsitck down also to help guide it past the cap.

i do have vortec heads

you mean like i should ask for one for my 97 bravada for example? it has the 4.3 also

LMAO! I had the same freaking problem. Put the top end back together after replacing the heads with L35s. Forgot to put the dipstick back on and lemme tell you. THE BIGGEST PIAN ever when everythings on the truck.. i had to replace mine with a new one and it still took 2 people and an hour to get it back in. So your saying theres a more appropriate stick and tube to use? What year, car etc?

I installed my late model S10 dipstick yesterday. I have Voretc heads as well.
Fits like a glove, clears everything (at least with the RPM headers).
Only problem is, I asked for the 4x4 stick and looks like I got the 4x2. The tube length is correct, the stick is about 2" in short.
So back to the dealer to see about the right stick.

any update? surely there is a gm part number for the correct stick and tube floating about. for a vortech headed

The tube is correct & according to Chevy that is the correct dispstick for a 97 4WD Vortec V6.
