Hey guys, some may recognize me from turbobuick.com, and if anyone is an LS2.com member I am known as Ern there.

Welp, I have been wanting a Typhoon since they came out and I am finally ready to get uber serious and start downloading some vehicles so I can get one. I am currently building a mid 11 second T-type. It's going to be called TNX because I am basically building a Dark Garnet Red GNX clone with custom TNX badging, flares, vents, burg/silver interior, and eventually a GNX rear end as well. I like to think of it as the Turbo Regal Buick should have built. :D But I digress....

I am going to try and buy a low mileage stock Typhoon within the next 6-12 months for sure, ideally I would like a Teal/Gray one but I know the odds of me finding one, especially one that fits my criteria is low. BUT, if you guys know of one let me know because I could buy one tomorrow but I want to sell 3 of the cars I don't want anymore first but it's not mandatory. My next choice would be a white/white one. After that I pretty much like all the color combo's the same. I will be keeping whatever I get 90% stock and will drive it mildy with only the occasional roll on. Can't wait to join the club. :myclone:

A couple random thoughts concerning Ty's:

-I can't believe no one ever reproduced cladding, I know the Sy/Ty numbers are low, but I figured ordinary pick up and blazer owner would have been interested. I know a guy in the fiberglass business and if I get one I will surely see how much he would charge me to make some molds of the cladding.

-While Buick Turbo 3.8's aren't the cheapest engine to build, I'm confounded by how much a Typhoon engine rebuild is. Based on a 4.3 platform I would have guessed the avergae price to be way lower. Part of me thinks you should be able to buy a crate 4.3 and just place the new gaskets and pistons in it and drive off into the sunset, lol.

-After dealing with the 200 4r I look forward to a 700r4, lol.

-I have owned several S-10's and the only thing that worries me about the Typhoon is the cheap dash and tailgate issues plagued by every Blazer I have ever been in, so my concerns are pretty minimal. I won't lie though, a few reversible custom interior mods would be on my agenda, try and set it apart from the crowd a little.

Well, that's about it for now. Here are a few pics of my T, hopefully I'll get done putting in my new tranny, exhaust, and fuel upgrades this week and then I'll be putting in my new engine shortly after and taking it off to paint.

CURRENT:

In the prime, everything off. I was going to paint it myself but I have decided to go with a painter now.

Custom upholstery, I have gray door upper panels to bring it all in, and possibly will put gray carpeting in it in the future, dunno.

Going for the machined look, I am very anti-chrome. You can barely see the stock location 23 row intercooler in the corner, the exhaust parts are all 2000º ceramic coated, it's not powder coat.

The custom upholstery is very, very nice! Buick should've done it that way!

Yeah, it is a 1984 hot air car. True barn yard find. It was sitting by a barn for years and finally one day I drove down and asked the owner if he wanted to sell it and he did. I got it for $1,000.00 with the intention of parting it out on Ebay. Well, when I got it home I realized it was 10 times nicer than my blue one you see in the background so I kept it and decided to do whatever I wanted to it. :D The paint was crap, it had a rod knock, but there was no rust anywhere and aside from the side bolster the interior was show ready.
I am putting an 87 drivetrain in it, didn;t feel like going against the current on modding a hot air engine.

My plans are to make the Typhoon my family car, the T-type my weekend cruiser and occasional ride to work, and use my wifes minivan as the main family car. Putting 93 octane into a 19mpg Typhoon is still better than a $400.00+ Challenger payment for 5 years, so I figure it's now or never because eventually I won't be able to find a stock Typhoon with low miles for sale. I still own a Twin Turbo Stealth, one of the ones I want to sell this summer, and I never see low mileage ones for sale anymore.

Martinsburg, WV. Let me update my profile. There is a nice mid mileage red/grey Ty 30 miles from me, but I want to keep an eye out for a while for a teal or white one first, plus it lets me get some things done first. My wife would kill me if I bought another car with the stockpile I currently have, LOL.

Ummm...if you're lucky, and on the highway. 14-16 is more like it. Turbo Regals do better. SyTys are turning 4 wheels remember.

 That is some bad mpg, lol. Maybe have to change my plan to buying a Typhoon and a Geo Turbo Sprint.
