Gloss Black Power coating

I just got my wheels back from the power coating shop and they look amazing. The guy had to spend 5 hours hand sanding the old chrome off. And the price reflected it also! :rotf: But in the end it looks like Black Chrome in the sun. Let me know what you guys think.

As of right now the back of the truck is lowered with Beltech Springs and 3 inch blocks, with set back plates. I will have to wait until the motor is back together to finish loosing the front bars.

DISCLAIMER******Be nice...no jokes about how dirty my garage is of how crappy my cladding and paint looks, ( I bought the truck for 4000 ).

how the hell do you sand chrome off? Ive tried on a shitty set of ZR1's I have, its pretty much impossible, because after the chrome is nickle, and then copper......

Looks good and way to go on a scoring a $4,000.00 dollar truck. Any more pictures of what you got for 4,000?

I thought he was going to Dip them but when I dropped them off he told me that they no longer dip chrome? I don't know if it is a California thing or what. So the guy blasted them first ( media blasted? ), I have 4 18's two of them were the stock chrome, which he said were the easy ones. BUT the second set went to hell and back before I bought them. they were crapply Re chromed, so he spend a long time grinding and hand sanding the two layers of chrome off, he also did two coats of power coating to get rid of a little curb rash they had. It took him two weeks but for how they turned out and for only $100 a wheel, I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Hey Sy2455 I lived in riverside when I was 5, I lived in so cal until I was 6. I have a lot of family in orange county and ventura....

here are some pic's of my truck, I was thinking about starting a "project" page....maybe later

Here is what it looked like when I got it....

Here is the down side of the deal

Besides the roof here is the only dent in the truck :rotf:

Any-ways I'll get a different thread going to show how beat my syclone is and what I'm doing about it.

It was going to be 75 a wheel if no extra work was needed, in my case....it was needed. The company's name is Fusion coating and they are here in livermore, (925)443-8089. they normally do medical equipment. I chose them over moss brothers power coating because they seemed like they wanted to spend more time and make them perfect.... how's your truck coming along gary?

Here they just dip them. I bet it's the acid baths that they are not allowed to use in Cali. Dipping is cheaper(less labot) but if the surface is damaged, it's still gonna take some lovin to get it good enough for chrome or black gloss. Those show everything.

I'm digging the black chrome look, but that is some highway robbery to get it done.
