505 HP isn't enough

Well, the showdown finally happened and even semi-pampering my Sy, the outcome was as expected (I think this is the 2nd time I have gotten on it since I have owned it). My bro was visiting and took the seat behind the SRT/10. I, of course, saddled in behind the Syclone and he stays behind me like a good boy to the showdown locale. First light we hit, he runs up and says "Nice ploy...you're running race gas punk" to which I smiled, said all is fair in love and war and to basically shut up, stop whining and keep following. We catch a light at the showdown drag and the cross traffic light goes yellow. I'm antzy now and have a guy filming so I am determined to blow the SRT/10 out of the county. Start building a little boost and the truck starts creeping...brakes can't handle the pressure...light turns red and I count one, one thousand and off the brakes. The truck bounds out of there like the stone that left David's slingshot....only problem is the turn light on the opposing side came on and I blew right through the red light. My bro stays put (good for him) and I run to about 85 and shut it down waiting on him to catch up. On down the road, we stop and I tell him when his back bumper passes me, it's on and immediately start to spool. He budges forward and I see his taillights for about 1/2 second and whoosh.....we are off again except as I am passing him very quickly, I hear him yelling my name. I slow down and he is frantically motioning behind him and saying COP. I look and a TN state trooper is rounding the curve with his whip antenna's bent over about 50 degree's and lights a blazin. We tool ahead and he pulls up next to my bro who is of course behind me where he belongs (we're rolling down the road) and over his loud speaker says "I know I didn't just see going down what I think I saw" and rolls on past him and me. We thought he was gonna be waiting at the off ramp for us but he turned and sped on to his crime scene (?). Wiping our foreheads and not willing to let it end like that, we take our chances with one more shot on a side road. Needless to say, my young bro should have stayed in TX.....he got waxed with a shine to boot. The race was over at 20 but I rubbed it in to 118 and felt sorry for him. The guy filming was so shook up over the advancing cop, he only got the first part of the run where the SRT/10 sits dumbfounded at the light.....and to think all this went down on 8 lbs of boost :). Bottom line is 505 HP isn't enough for the 15 yo Syclone that hasn't outgrown its training pants yet (3,018 original miles).

Seriously, dude, I'm *ALL* for a good street race, but you need to find a better place to do it than an intersection. Go find a road in the middle of no where and have someone flag it. It is quite literally sheer luck that you didn't DESTROY a car turning on that green turn signal.

Ok, now that I got all the serious stuff out of the way ;) good ****ing kills dude :D I'm dying to get a piece of one of those overpriced mulch haulers. :)

Nice, where's the video

With my brothers friend (who was filming) in TX. He won't let me have a copy of it cause he KNOWS where it will go if I get my hands on it :).

Before ANYTHING moved in any direction, I was already through the intersection but I hear ya and you are right....there are much better places to carry out a family grudge match but he was only here for 7 hours and my lunch break was the only time I had to make a believer out of him.

No, it's been professionally molested (although I do have every single OEM piece that was removed from the truck and could easily take it back to 100% stock). I have NO desire to sell it but if I decided to, it would take $35,000 to pry this Syclone away from me since it has $12,000 in mods and is nicer than the one I sold with 208 miles on it...in every respect. I'm gonna enjoy it for 15 years (5-6,000 more miles) and then let it go for $50,000 when the value of these soars :).

Yep, I thought the same thing until Jimmy took his Typhoon out and schooled me by putting 15 bus lengths on the SRT/10 (ran close to 135 and quit). I see you used to own a SRT/10 so I would think, of all people, you'd understand their weakness but that's ok....I didn't think it was possible either until I got spanked by a Typhoon and my brother didn't believe it until I spanked him with the Syclone. For a truck, the SRT/10 isn't bad but 505 HP / 5,000 lbs doesn't compare to 537 HP / 3,616 lbs (at least not in TN).

I'v been telling myself that for awile now...owning a syty and waiting for the value to increase is not worth the nightmares it gives me when I dream at night. Of course, if I didn't drive it much, like you do, then my nightmares would go away. I just have never got anything out of having a car sit around.

Made the post because you didn't put your mods in the original write-up......I thought it was a stock Sy with 3K on the clock.......

btw, my SRT-10 Ram ran a best of 12.79 @108 before it was sold two months ago... ...nothing but a Magnaflow cat-back........

Well, under that assumption, I would have to agree with you 100%. A stock Syclone isn't gonna handle a SRT/10 too well except off the line and only until the SRT/10 hooks. I don't disclose my mods because it might appear to some that I am boasting and that is not how I am so I just leave it alone since it really doesn't matter anyway :). I have been blessed to own quite a few high end cars / trucks / motorcycles so I just enjoy them when and where I can.
