Re: Honor

I have abosolutely no idea what the hell your talking about with the honor system, being first, in line, blah blah blah... but anyways...

Ive driven the truck, its been to FAST meets, its been to Nats, it was there for filming for American Muscle Car, and its been babied its entire life, more so than ever under Tom's ownership. It sits in a climate controlled immaculately clean warehouse and driven on occasion, but mostly a trailer queen.

Its #6 of 10, and has 3k on it. The only modification it has is that the upper intake and IC has been powdercoated red, and the IC lines are white or silver (cant remember) which was done by Tom. Chris Pearson was the previous owner.

If you'd like, I'll drive the 40 minutes up the road and go rip ass in it again.....

Re: Honor

I think I know what you're talking about on the honor system. It does exist here, usually.

As far as the Marlboro goes, if you do acquire it, I will be more than happy to trailer it to Nats for you next year

Re: Honor

Forgot to mention... its also had some track time at the Nats in KC and Chitown, 1 pass each. No abuse launching just hard acceleration.

Re: Honor

as far as the honor thing goes...if you post something for sale ...then the first person to post dibs, sold whatever in the thread has first shot at the item.....if you contact the seller by pm or email post that in the thread so it will give the time so you can be assured you were the first to contact the seller. that way the rest of us wanting/needing the item for sale can be assured that they are next in line.

Re: Honor

:stupid: On the Corvette forums, they made it a rule that if somebody posts something for sale, that anyone interested has to post their reply in the thread, not via pm. If they do sell something via pm, and nobody in the thread knows about it, then the seller is in violation and can have his account revoked.

At first I though it was kind of a weird rule, but it makes total sense, and eliminates hassles like stated above.

Re: Honor

i understand the dibs deal, first post, etc...

Maybe I missed something.... does Doug and Tom have a deal going on the Marlboro, or was the honor thing a completely seperate subject to the Marlboro?

That is a double negative and a no-no (well, I guess no-no is a double negative too, ha). I agree with you. Nothing torques me more than KNOWING I have replied first to a item only to get notified someone else IM'd the seller before I posted??? Yeah right, that is why they sold the item to another person for $50 more than it was advertised on the public forum for.....

I will never support thier rule. Every thing has to be done in public including $ offers.

Their are a lot more activity & people over their. Some buyers whined :hissyfit: that they put thier bid in first. They just couldn't believe that an email or pm could have been first. I have been out gunned on good deals, I just dealt with it and didn't act childish.

-As a seller I always do them in order, I never did but I would always like to reserve to change my mind for a special situation. Ie You don't trust one the buyer from past history or its something bulky and a friend local wants to buy it.

-I also don't necessarily want what I paid or low balled for parts in public.

-If someone is going to bypass you solicit larger offer. Ie I had a deal with someone and they got a better offer after agreeing to price. I don't want to deal with that type of person anyways.

Re: Honor

I am a little confused on exactly what you mean but you might be hinting about the condition of parts.

Another is thing about internet transactions especially when your trying to restore a vehicle. Some have different definitions of mint. I always ask condition and try to be specific, if I want some that is perfect. Buyer beware, but don't always assume something is perfect.

Re: Honor

Gotcha Doug... misunderstood, I thought something was going down on the Marl with you trying to buy it.

Id love to go see it sold at auction, but we have our FAST meet that weekend. Its gonna suck if it ends up leaving FL. I think we are the only state right now with more than one Marl?

Re: Honor

Even though I've only got 1 item off of here. I was wondering why somebody bothers to list it here on the forumn for sale if they want more than what they ask. Why don't they just put it on e-bay.It seems kinda stupid to list it here for xxx amount of money they basically stab everybody in the back by selling it to a pm buyer. Just my thought on the matter.
