Gasket's???????

Exhaust:
Ok are the SCE copper exhaust manifold to head gaskets the best to get? Do they have a turbo mount gasket and if so do I need it?

Head gaskets:
Which are the best for a High boost build since I have been told Fel-Pro's (or Fast Blows as one fellow put it) are no good? I know there have been some problems and several debates but it hasn't come up for a while and the "search" was old info. Anything new or at least tried and proven?

Thanks!

Re: Gasket's???????

If both you mating surfaces are flat on the turbo & exhaust manifolds are flat,, you should not need any gaskets.
Head gaskets,,,,, ask Mike Ghettosled here.

Nothing wrong with Felpro gaskets as long a s you retorque them. Cometics are the ultimate high boost gasket (other than an oring setup)

Re: Gasket's???????

what do you mean by retorque them? torque em up to form them, then back it off and redo it so it seals?

I may need them.

torque the heads to proper spec (usually 70 ft.lbs w/studs) and heat cycle the engine 2 or 3 times. (heat up cool down.........x3) then when the engine has cooled down to ambient air temp, go over the bolts/studs with your torque wrench one more time (we usually go up 5 ft.lbs on the settiing as well.)

There is other ways (back them off and retorque) but we have found this makes no difference.

Hope this explains it.

Re: Gasket's???????

What "head to exhaust manifold" gasket do I use? I have the victor’s from RPM, but a buddy told that they will blow-out and to use high temp silicone in there place. Has anyone had this problem?

DO NOT USE A GASKET!! Use high temp silicone and nothing else.

turbo engines + header/exhaust gaskets = BAD LEAKS!

Thanks, it would diffenetly suck to try to fix an exhaust leak in the truck. I will redo it tonight.

Re: Gasket's???????

Your telling me, mine just blew the #2 manifold gasket, so they're all coming out being redone.

Re: Gasket's???????

Are you going to do it with the engine in the truck? I just wonder if it would be easier to pull the engine first and then redo it, if you have the time, space, and tools.
