Cladding repair, before and after picts... Check it out!!

Here's two pieces of cladding I fixed for Jeff (2500avalanche). He just came and picked them up this morning, and told me I should throw some picts up here. I wish you guys could see them in person. I honestly think they look a lot better in person than in the picts, but I'm sure Jeff will chime in with his opinion.

Typhoon LR corner cladding.

Before. This corner was busted up pretty good. He had most of the pieces, but two were missing.

During. Here's the corner with all the pieces put back in place. Those two triangular areas were completely missing, the pieces from it were gone. The two missing pieces, one was about the size of a silver dollar, the other about the size of a quarter.

After. Here it is, ready for prep and paint!!

Typhoon drivers side rocker cladding.

Before. This piece also took a good hit. The typical floor jack slip and crunch. I didn't have any of
the missing pieces from this one. What you see is what I started with.

Looks great. Any pics of in inside of the pieces where they were fixed? I'm curious how you filled in the missing holes.

Good effort and nice results for the time spent. You work in a body shop? or just natural talent?

I highly recommend Mark! These were my parts, and he fixed them perfectly. I will be installing them on the truck this week. Started to sand them down tonight!

Thanks guys for the compliments!! I've got a couple more pieces here I should take some picts of. I have a Ty rocker that was shipped to me in two seperate pieces, both about 2 feet long. It was broke right in half, right in the middle. I put it back togather and it turned out great.

Bustedsm, and any others who have broken cladding, bring it to Nats!! I will definately take a look at your busted up pieces and shoot you guys a price. If it sounds good, I'll bring it home from Nats, fix it, and ship it back to you. That'll at least save shipping one way. Or if it's an easy fix, I can do it up in the hotel room. I will have my repair stuff with me. I will also be bring a bunch of new and used cladding to Nats too...

I've been doing repair for a long time.. it isn't worth it most of the time, especially if you use plastic weld.. it takes way to long to fix it for it to be worth it and actually make money.

Hey Mark, two of my pieces are still on the truck so you could take a look at them while they're on. The other piece I still have to take off two of the broken parts.

Any good write ups on how to take off the cladding?

I can look at it still installed on your truck, thats no biggie. I'm going to be bringing all my cladding tools with me, so we can look at it at Nats, and if it's a go, then we'll just take the pieces off in the parking lot of the hotel. The factory rivets are a pain to drill out, because they have an aluminum head and a steel mandrell, so the drill will want to wonder. If you attempt it on your own, be patient. If I were you, I'd just leave them on there, and we'll check it out togather at Nats.

Deal, I'll see you in two weeks! Hopefully I can snag the front pieces that are still left on the passenger side corner to have you check out.

Yes, it'll make it much easier if you have the pieces. I can still repair it without them, but bring everything you have. It'll save me time which will save you money.

Also, for you and anyone else looking into cladding repair, please try and get in contact with me as soon as possible at Nats. I'm planning on getting there Thurs afternoon, around 4pm or so. It's not a 5 minute job to work on this stuff, so the sooner we can meet up, there's a much better chance I'll be able to fix it there and you can take it home with you. If people come talk to me Sun morn, I won't be able to do anything with it there at Nats, there just won't be enough time, so I'd have to bring it home, fix it, and ship it back to you. So try and find me as soon as you can and I'll do my best to turn some pieces around over those 3 or 4 days.
