Anyone making their own exhaust?

Has anyone attempted it? I looked into it, and it doesn't seem that hard once the pipes are bent. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've got maybe 100 to my name....lol

I didn't mean that personally, I meant that the pipe isn't expensive. a 4' section of 304 3" stainless for around 40$. The trucks (ty) aren't long after you factor the muffler and cat.

Truth, it's pretty cheap. I have a bender and welder too :D

What kind of welder do you need for the exhaust? Just curious? I was looking at those brackets, but I can get a welder for free (borrow) and I can get the pipe bent too.

Re: Anyone making their own exhaust?

ive put some serious consideration into. and found that only one place hear in my town that gets s/s exhaust and can bend it... just havent got to that stage w/ the project. soon though. when i take off the passenger side fender... that will be the time.

right now ive got the driver side fender off. so today i put into place my zq8 box and jeep shaft. also did a more solid mock up of ls1/z51, caliper&abutment/rotors still have issues w/ ls1 abutment bolts mounting through larger c5 bolt holes on the caliper brackets.

anyway. progress nonetheless.

you can stick it with stainless rods too , but if your gonna make a new exhaust why even do the muffler ?Many success stories without it .

Id stick with muffler and lose the cat. Thats what I do. Except I run a warlock muffler that allows me to run open exhaust. You can get a mandrel bent aluminized 3" kit from Jegs for about $275. All the bends you need are there. You can mig it. Thats the route I will be going once I am bored and get in the mood to.

Re: Anyone making their own exhaust?

this probably sounds dumb, but what about buying an exhaust for a diesel and adapting it for a sy or ty. i would like a 4" pipe.

I thought about that. I read an article where some guys took the exaust off of a school bus, and used that. It was cheap and effective.

Useless to run anything bigger than 3". There is going to be nothing to gain from something so huge and useless.

I recently was on a site (I just googled it) that sold mandral bends for cheap, and stainless too!
