Head Gasket did'nt work

Just got a new engine installed, put about 100 miles on it and think I have a head gasket leak, It is blowing white smoke and my overflow bottle is gurgling. I have been searching for a better gasket and ran across a few that are happy with the titan gaskets. Then I remembered I bought a "bullet proof head gasket kit" http://rjcracing.com/RJC_Buick_Products/RJC_Head_Gasket_Kit/rjc_head_gasket_kit.html for my Buick and was wondering if I could make it work for my Typhoon What do you guys think. Maybe I could order some copper gaskets without seals for coolant and oil and use the GE stuff on there or just get the Titans?

Re: Head Gasket did'nt work

if you just had it installed why not take it back and have them fix it. or if you did it yourself, what gasket did you use.

Re: Head Gasket did'nt work

i don't think that headgasket is the problem. they hold up pretty good, and i never read a story about them failing. maybe on +20psi boost. but they are good gaskets, i think you got a different problem there

Re: Head Gasket did'nt work

i say stick with the victor for now and replace it and clean everything good and reinstall. ive used the victors with a pte 52 up to 25-28 psi at the track.

Oil looks good and the coolant is very low I am going to go outside and start ripping apart.

Re: Head Gasket did'nt work

Well for now lets go back to the original topic. What do you guys think of this idea for a Sy/Ty?http://rjcracing.com/RJC_Buick_Products/RJC_Head_Gasket_Kit/rjc_head_gasket_kit.html

syty's have a better head design, alteast stronger. you won't lift the heads, but blow the bottem end.
the big plus in their story is no plus in a syty.
cometics are good if you wanna go aftermarket, but victorreinz are good also. they are just good enough to work in out engines

Re: Head Gasket did'nt work

i didnt read all the specs but unless they custom make them for the syty bore, they're not going to work. the buick is a 3.8 bore compared to 4.0 for a sy

Re: Head Gasket did'nt work

Did you happen to get your block or heads refinished? Maybe you need to look into that. Did you use the correct torque settings for the head bolts and tighten them in the correct sequence?

check your other options,i have victors on my built motor with 25plus psi no problems, but maybe you had a head prep issue etc?

Re: Head Gasket did'nt work

just get a set mls gaskets and as long as the block and heads are good, no point reinventing the wheel.

the verdict is in, he sent me pics, it WAS in fact only a head gasket, BUT why it did it is beyond me
